A new residential complex with park

In the heart of Münzviertel (Hammerbrook district, near Hamburg Central Station) and between the streets of Münzstraße, Schultzweg and Norderstraße a new residential quarter for around 650 Hamburg citizens is being developed. For this purpose, more than 80 million euros will be invested into the 8.467 square meter plot of land, which used to inhabit the school for the deaf. The project is being realized by the “Stiftung Auszubildendenwerk” foundation and the real estate developer Nord Project.

Particularly noteworthy is the high proportion of subsidized apartments built on the site, which is about 60%. In addition to a dormitory for apprentices (Azubiwerk), apartments for families, students and former homeless people will be created. The historic building will be restored and will serve as a district center in the future.

Residents can look forward to the social “Café Movimento”, the food cooperative “Aunt Münze”, the “Radküche Münze” (bike repair shop) as well as a variety of common areas and playgrounds.

The new residential complex including Azubiwerk is currently still in its planning stage and shall be finished in 2020 / 2021.

The old school building will be the central focus point of the new quarter.
